How to Find a Fortnite Duo or Team in Competitive Play (and Get Scouted)

Want to play FNCS but don't have a partner? It's many players' first obstacle: the main circuit is played in duos, and both players have to be ready at the same time.

This guide explains how to choose your duo, where to look, how to test it and how to get scouted by a team. When we offer an opinion rather than a fact, we say so.

Why the duo is the foundation

According to the official FNCS 2026 rules, events are played in duos, and both players must be partied up before the match starts: otherwise the team is ranked last, with zero eliminations, for that match.

Prizes are also split equally between the two players. If one of them fails account verification, the whole team loses its prize. Choosing your partner is a trust decision as much as a skill one.

What makes a good duo

Here's what we recommend looking at (this is our opinion, built on the rules and on what pros say):

Criterion Why it matters
A similar level A gap that's too large drags both players' results down
Compatible schedules Tournaments have fixed slots: you both need to be there
The same region The rules allow one region per Major
An account in good standing Each player must meet the rules' requirements (see below)
Calm communication According to a Dignitas player, scrims first expose weaknesses in comms and endgames
Shared goals Aiming for FNCS, or just having fun: better to know before you start

What the rules ask of each player

According to the FNCS 2026 rules, each player needs two-factor authentication, an account at level 350 or higher, at least 14 Epic tournaments played in the last 180 days, and an account in their own name, in good standing. Check this before committing: a duo where only one player is eligible doesn't play.

Our guide on how to qualify for FNCS covers all the requirements and the divisions.

Where to find a partner

  • In tournaments: players who regularly finish at your ranking level are your natural candidates. Remember their usernames.
  • In the official rankings: Epic's Power Rankings are public on fortnite.com. They show you players from your region and level.
  • In communities: Discord servers for competitive players, scrim groups, creator communities. Introduce yourself with your results, not just your username.
  • In your circle: a friend who plays as much as you often beats a stronger stranger, because you'll talk without filters.

How to test a duo

Before committing to a season, play 3 to 5 tournaments together. Watch for:

  1. Who makes the rotation calls, and whether they work
  2. How you react after a lost fight (tilt shows up fast)
  3. Whether you're available at the same times

A Dignitas player, Khanada, explains that scrims (practice matches between teams) improve you the most, because they expose weaknesses in rotations, communication and endgames. Playing scrims together, then reviewing your games together, is the best duo test.

What esports teams look at

Teams recruit on results. Recent French players' paths show how it goes: Kurama joined Gentle Mates on March 30, 2026, after Solary, and won the Summit's Second Chance Qualifier with Akiira. Momsy and SkyJump finished 2nd at the Esports World Cup in Paris. We detail them in our article on the best French Fortnite players.

What helps you get noticed, in our view:

  • Steady tournament results, not a single flash
  • A username and profile that are easy to find
  • A few clips of your best moments
  • A stable duo rather than a different partner every week

Be wary of "recruiters" who ask you for money to sign you: to our knowledge, a serious team doesn't charge a player to recruit them.

FAQ

How do you find a duo partner for FNCS?

In tournaments (spot regular players at your level), in the official Power Rankings, in competitive Discord communities, or among your friends. Test the duo over 3 to 5 tournaments before committing.

Can you play FNCS without a duo?

The 2026 main circuit is played in duos. Epic announced an online Solo FNCS in October 2026, but it isn't the main circuit.

What makes a good duo?

A similar level, compatible schedules, the same region, calm communication and shared goals. Aim alone isn't enough.

How do you get recruited by an esports team?

Through steady tournament results, an easy-to-find profile, a few clips and a stable duo. Teams recruit on results.

What is a scrim?

A practice match between teams that recreates competitive conditions. A Dignitas player names it as what improves you the most.

Can a team ask you to pay to be recruited?

To our knowledge, no: be wary of any request for money to sign you.
