"How do you qualify for FNCS?" Fortnite's official circuit (the Fortnite Champion Series) can look opaque: divisions, Majors, Play-Ins, Last Chance Qualifier...
We went through the official 2026 rules and Epic Games' announcements to lay out the real path, in order. Where the rules say nothing, we say so too.
The requirements to play FNCS
According to the official FNCS 2026 rules, here's what Epic asks before you can enter:
| Requirement | What the rules say |
|---|---|
| Format | Duo: both players must be partied up at the start of every match |
| Account | In your name, in good standing, not bought or transferred, no competitive ban of 14 days or more |
| Security | Two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled on your Epic account |
| Level | Account level 350 or higher (shown in the Career tab) |
| Experience | At least 14 distinct Epic tournaments played in the last 180 days |
| Age | 13 minimum, with permission from a parent or guardian before the age of majority in your country |
| Region | One region per Major, with a single Epic account |
The official rules prevail: Epic can change them from one season to the next.
FNCS divisions
At the start of the season, an entry tournament (the FNCS Trial) places each duo in a division. After that, duos move up by playing Divisional Cups throughout the season. Divisions 4 and 5 exist only in Europe and North America Central (NAC).
The rules don't detail the promotion mechanics: only Epic's announcement says Divisional Cups move you up. What they do set is the division required for each stage:
| Stage | Division required |
|---|---|
| Major Play-Ins | Division 1 |
| Major Last Chance Qualifier (Europe, NAC) | Division 5 or higher |
| Major Last Chance Qualifier (other regions) | Division 3 or higher |
| Second Chance Qualifier | Division 1 |
Division 1 also gives access to the division finals prizing. If you're starting out, your goal is simple: play Divisional Cups to climb toward Division 1.
The Majors and Summit path
A Major has four stages: Play-Ins, Heats, a Last Chance Qualifier and the Finals. The best Major 1 duos are invited to the Summit, a LAN event: 50 duos, 20 of them European invites. The top 5 duos at the Summit earn a guaranteed Global Championship spot.

The Globals: the Last Chance Qualifier and the Power Rankings
Direct spots for the FNCS Global Championship come from the Summit and Major 2. According to esports.gg, Major 2 offered 25 spots, and a Last Chance Qualifier (August 3-14) decided the last 10. Epic removed Major 3 from the calendar.
For that Last Chance Qualifier, the rules require a Power Rankings position:
- First round: each player in the duo must be in the top 200,000.
- Skipping the first round: if both players are in the top 2,000, the duo goes straight to the second round.
The Power Rankings count your 20 best results across Battle Royale and Ranked tournaments, weighted by tournament difficulty, according to Epic's announcement relayed by esports.gg. They favor active players: playing regularly is the most profitable strategy.
What now? The next calendar
The 2026 Global Championship was played in Antwerp on September 26-27 (SwizzY and Pixie won it). In the sources we checked, Epic hasn't published the next season's calendar yet: it will appear on fortnite.com/competitive and in the game's Compete tab.
Meanwhile, the best plan is to maintain your Power Rankings and division level. Our guide on how to become a pro Fortnite player covers every step, from Ranked to your first contract.
